Purchased at auction from collection of Rowe. In 2014, Rowe was contacted by a family local to their Elliston, VA manufacturing facility. The Rowe Gondola Sofa has been part of their family since 1966. The Gondola Sofa is one of Rowe's most sought-after pieces in the vintage furniture market. Rowe partnered with Valdese Weavers to recover the sofa during its refurbishing process. The fabric, with hints of metallic, has a textural stripe inspired by a luxurious woven ribbon favric in the Gripoix technique. Circa 1950-1959. It is paired with a deep persimmon wool velvet.
